I'm going with 10 All Time Classics from the Captain America (MCU) fandom. I mean, they're all classics to me, at least. In no particular order:
1. This, You Protect by owlet
First installment in the Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail series, which are all amazing. It's a “Bucky escaping Hydra and rebuilding his sense of self” fic, which he does while spying on Steve. With eventual Avengers Family and a lovely cast of OCs bonding with Bucky in the meantime. It has a very distinctive perspective and writing style; Bucky's in constant internal (and sometimes accidentally external) dialogue with himself, making it hilarious and tragic all at the same time. I love it. I've recently been getting into The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells and this Bucky has a similar sassy-but-vulnerable vibe? Read this if you like that, anyway.
2. The One Who Knows by Dira Sudis (dsudis)
This is a Political Animals AU, in that no-powers Steve is inserted into the Political Animals world and Bucky is TJ. Discusses being outed and depression but is ultimately hopeful. The author is one of my all time faves and has written lots of great stories for this and many other fandoms.
3. Blue Scales by chaya
Steve is a merman AU. He's still Captain America, though. It's crack with heart, I love it.
Best line: "May your scales and your love story be our weird secret forever.”
4. Our Lingering Frost by eyres
AU where Bucky is rescued from Hydra in the 50s (?) and so is around for Steve to be found.
5. Assets Out of Containment by follow_the_sun
It's a classic to *me*, OK? Bucky goes undercover at Jurassic World just as that movie's plot kicks off. They're Hydra dinosaurs! It's just great. Also has a podfic and crossovers with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
6. Not Easily Conquered (series) by dropdeaddream and WhatAreFears
Some of the greatest fanfiction I've ever read, the whole series is epic. Anyway, it's a "Steve doesn't go into the ice" AU with added queer angst when (never sent) love letters from Bucky resurface. I particularly like the second installment in the series The Thirteen Letters, which are just Bucky's letters and are insanely well-written.
7. to memory now I can't recall by Etharei
Time travel AU! Featuring post-CATWS Bucky accidentally switching places with CATFA era Bucky.
8. If Wishing Made It So by Leveragehunters (Monkeygreen)
Genie!Bucky AU! This author is great at writing AUs with fantasy/genre elements, it was hard to choose. They've also written an excellent werewolf!Steve AU and a horse!Steve AU that I really love.
9. Into That Good Night by Nonymos
An Interstellar AU! Very angsty and tragic but with an eventual happy ending.
10. Goodbye Piccadilly, Farewell Leicester Square by Speranza
Speranza must be one of the best writers in the fandom, so it was hard to pick just one of their fics. Other strong contenders were All the Angels and the Saints and The Fifties, so check those out too! But this one has a special place in my heart. Steve, Tony and Natasha accidentally time travel to WW2 London, leading to an accidental run-in with CATFA-era Bucky. The author does tragic and romantic time travel tropes so well, but with a happy ending.
I now realise that most of these are AUs, so here’s a bonus rec for a non-AU in-universe story that’s severely underrated and deserves more love:
+1
Heart, Have No Pity on this House of Bone by Sena
This story follows Bucky in-action in the Pacific Theatre. It’s very well written and, from what I can tell, well researched. Steve only appears in Bucky’s imagination and the story focuses on the horrors of war rather than romance, but it’s gripping! And it explores unrequited love, being closeted and period-typical homophobia, which I also enjoyed. I’m still holding out hope for a sequel.
#wow throwback#found this in my drafts#originally intended for international fanworks day#yikes#anyway#fic recs#fic rec friday#international fanworks day#captain america#fanfiction#mcu#stucky#nostalgia#kind of an old fandom for me now#but still#classic fics#fandom classics#stucky fic recs#stucky fic#my fic recs#my fic rec posts

Thirty One Days of Horror Movies! Day One :D
Cuckoo!
One of my fave horror movies of the year and one of my fave movies of the year in general, Cuckoo follows the story of Gretchen, a young woman who has had to travel with her sister, her father and his new partner to a remote part of the Bavarian Alps. But when she begins working for the eccentric and sinister owner of a local holiday lodge she quickly begins noticing increasingly bizarre and frightening goings on, leading to some terrifying revelations as to just what is happening behind the scenes here
Cuckoo is a movie that feels like it's destined to be a genre cult classic. It has a fantastic cast with both its lead and the wonderfully sinister and weird performance that the films villain delivers especially putting in amazing performances here, some wonderfully creepy moments with the creature that the filmmakers came up with (Which also has a very awesome and spooky looking visual that makes it very memorable) and a very entertaining plot
It's also got some wonderful moments of tongue in cheek comedy that make the movie feel like it would make a great double bill with the likes of From Beyond
Gretchen herself is a fantastic character and an awesome addition to the world of the final girl and her performance and body language instantly sell you on this butterfly knife wielding badass whose been thrust into this bizarre situation
And it's always great to see more positive representations of queerness in the horror genre as well <3_<3
A grea mix of genuinely creepy moments, emotional moments that make you feel for the lead character and some genuinely hilarious scenes/lines sprinkled in on top, this is a great little horror gem to check out this Halloween month :D

Voice of the Cold for the ask game, i hope I got here first D:
[ask game here]
OMG, you did! :D And I am so happy to answer about Cold.
First impression
Pretty sure my first impression was of him in the Spectre route, and I was curious, a bit positively inclined, mostly on the strengths of how well he fit how we got him and also how hot his voice was. 😔 Yeah, I'll admit it. I looked forward to seeing more from him and was intrigued by the seeming discrepancy between his "emotionless" claims and his blatant grudge against the Narrator.
Impression now
I LOVE COLD SO MUCH. Ohhh, he is as much of a trauma response as the rest of them and is both driven to keep himself safe and also experience something new (which is itself not safe) and also not care about safety... He is dismissive and deeply caring and he can't stand stagnancy and yet he feels at home when everything unravels into the Long Quiet. One of my Top 3 faves I think.
Favorite moment
There are a lot of moments I could choose here but I think I still have to give it to my bias: Cold in the Wraith chapter alongside Paranoid. Especially this sequence:
This has lived rent-free in my head since I first saw it, it just hits me so hard in a "none of them are fully wrong but none are fully right either" way and says so much about Cold in the context of other things... Especially the absolutely wild "If you can tolerate joy, you can tolerate pain" line, like UM EXCUSE ME?
(But the whole chapter is great, with Cheated as well as with Paranoid, but I have a bias for so many moments with the Paranoid version, like the "you think you are brave" line from Wraith and the fact that Cold must have helped with the efforts to toss the body into the void... Wraith is a severely underrated chapter, I feel!)
Idea for a story
Look, because of the way I fandom, all my ideas are for shipfic and ParaCold is 1000% my OTP, soooo...
That said, a specific idea I've actually had that I still kinda want to use with something, that I may have mentioned before, is Hunted making a point that they need each other (as a group) and at their best they cover each others' blind spots and shore up each others' weak points.
When Cold pulls something along the lines of his "I'm special" thing, Hunted ends up challenging him to a "play" fight (no actual wounds being left, "wounds" marked with something like chalk or berry juice or something, fake blade, etc.). And by the time Cold calls that he's "killed" Hunted (and so obviously he's right that he doesn't need help/he has no weak spots that actually matter), Hunted can point out that he's managed to land enough "minor" blows that Cold would be bleeding out by now too, because he doesn't guard himself at all.
(I also kinda want to look more into a super queer TTRPG called Moonlight on Roseville Beach because I wanna play around a bit with an AU for it where the six possible player character "origin stories" are filled by Hero, Contrarian, Cold, Paranoid, the Princess, and the Narrator... "[In] Moonlight on Roseville Beach, it's the summer of 1979 and you work in the village by day while protecting yourself, your housemates, and your neighbors from supernatural monstrosities and occult horrors by night," and it's in a queernorm setting where LGBTQIA+ characters are considered the norm, with a "focus on queer people succeeding at keeping themselves and their communities safe (at least for a time).")
Unpopular opinion
TBH I also agree that Cold isn't all that edgy. I think he's quite straightforward most of the time and definitely has some issues -- I think he likes prodding at some of the other characters more than some people realize but also less than some people act like, he really does jump to "we could stab" very quickly as a response, he seems happy to encourage potential violence against himself if he finds it interesting in some way, he has a surprisingly big ego -- but also blatantly cares despite how he often talks, is curious and wants new things, and seems to like connecting with the other voices and even, sometimes, the vessels.
I also think he isn't as hard to get along with as some people think, in the sense of, I think he has like three different "modes" when it comes to interacting with people:
He vibes with how you do things, in which case he goes along quite well, is agreeable and calm, and seems to like you. (Skeptic in the Drowned Grey chapter is a clear example, but so is Cheated in the Wraith I think; IMO Hero and Hunted would go here as well.)
There's enough push-and-pull there that he finds you interesting, in which case he can get a bit intense, prod you some just to see the push back, might sometimes go along just to see what you'll do, and it's a bit harder to tell if he likes you (but honestly he does). (IMO Paranoid would go here, and I do actually think Smitten goes here as well.)
Neither of the above apply, in which case he's just bored of you, and if forced into constant proximity with you, annoyed. (Stubborn in MOC is the most blatant example; IMO Broken would go here as well, ironically outside of if you somehow managed to get Cold alongside him in the Tower route.)
(The first two can be true simultaneously for some people; I feel like Contrarian would be in both. Weirdly, I feel like Opportunist is somehow in both #2 and #3? Stubborn could eventually go into #2, under better circumstances. And the Narrator fits a special category of "fuck you" where He doesn't quite fit #2 but there are some similarities, Cold just doesn't like Him.)
...This got a bit weird and long and out of Unpopular Opinion territory, huh. WELL, TL;DR Cold isn't edgy and actually likes a good number of the other voices.
Favorite relationship
I mean, y'all can guess this one, right? >_>
No, but honestly, as a ship it's definitely ParaCold. But in a totally platonic way, I also really love his dynamic with Hero in the Spectre route, especially if you free Her, and with Skeptic in the Drowned Grey chapter (okay, okay, I can see that one as either platonic or shippy). And his dynamic with the Narrator fascinates me but I can't ever see them getting along.
Favorite headcanon
I love the idea that Cold picks up new things all the time, and whether he sticks with them or not he gets surprisingly good at them first. Skills, hobbies, other languages. I can imagine his handwriting getting better more quickly than a lot of the other voices because of this, and him also managing to bond with the others over doing their hobbies with them.

slightly new and improved Writeblr intro
About me
I'm bb (bibi, and BB are fine but not Bb, that's a writing signature not mine), 30+, queer, she/they, and I like to write.
My fave genres are fantasy, scifi, and romance. Sometimes with historical fiction and slice of life thrown in too.
I have a probably unhealthy amount of OCs and I want all of them to kiss.
I write both fanfic and original stuff.
I mostly post my own writing, writeblr games, and posts that give me crazy OC thoughts to be tagged. I don't reblog a lot of writing advice or self deprecating writer posts because honestly? Couldn't be me.
I did a HUGE writing challenge this year that was an attempt to write 365 1-shots. One a day. I failed but that's okay. I wrote like 200 of them and that's great and I'm proud of myself.
This is a side blog. I follow from @xaz-fr
I love asks and tumblr messages. I do writeblr games but I could really use some writeblr friends to tag in the ones I do get :,D
I'd love to look at your stuff. You should def show me your writing in a reply or reblog :3
Main tags (that aren't WIPs)
#365 - the big year long project. It has some original stuff, and some fanfic. Lots of adult themes. Lots of original spooky stuff. Lots of 'horror and love are the same thing actually'. Things that are Very Adult are posted on AO3 with a link.
#Fey Alliance - catch all tag for my main setting, the Fey Alliance
#rattling - headcanons, world building, story thoughts, character questions, commentary. Mostly any original posts that aren't writing.
WIPs
The Zealous Servant - Dark high fantasy with lots of magic, necromancers, gods, and political drama. The main character Spayar needs to help his friend the crown prince kill the entire royal family before they turn around and do the same to him in order to claim the throne. Very queer, and is written for an adult audience not YA.
Entropy - My main fanfic WIP from the Destiny 2 fandom. Follows my OCs on their journey to bully the fuck out of Shin Malphur; resident Worst Guy Ever. Along the way he gets a hot girlfriend and I force him to have some actual friends because his lone wolf shtick is tired and stupid lol.
Lonos [working title] - This is a backburner one I need to really hash out a bit more. So I'll probably be posting a lot of rattlings about this one. Vaguely middle eastern appearance in setting about a traveling circus where all the players are also mercenaries for hire. Post a massive plague that wiped out almost all the magic users on the continent and the ones that are still around are viewed as cursed or unclean. (I swear I had this idea before the panny :,D) Gonna be a big long gay slow burn. For adult audiences.
Witchbane - Another backburner one I need to churn out some rattlings about. Steampunk set in a country called Ravthica where everyone thinks magic isn't real. When Spencer's parents go missing he's got to start believing in magic real quick when the hag that lives on his family's property tells him witches kidnapped his parents and the only way to get them back is to kill them. But witch hunting isn't exactly easy and he needs the help of some Wild things to find the witches that want his family and their witch hunting dogs all dead. For YA audiences.

Hi......If you don't mind, can I ask, what are your top 10 (or top 7) favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Thanks....
Hmm, let's see! I'm quite bad a ranking things, so here's a tentative list of my current faves:
10. MILGRAM Project
This one is a little more recent for me, as my sister got me into it. MILGRAM is an interactive music video project, and while I'm not the biggest fan of DECO*27's music, I love the idea that this project presents. You're able to vote if a character is forgiven or unforgiven based off of the information given through a music video. I quite like some of the representation it has, especially with it having a character with DID.
9. Monster (Naoki Urasawa)
It's just a manga (and anime!) I like a lot due to it's compelling storytelling and antagonist. It was also cool being able to point out actual locations from the series in Germany.
8. To Your Eternity
While I fell of a little bit from the manga, this series still holds a place in my heart. (The Previous Era, at least.) The manga especially is so heartfelt, emotional, and spiritual, with it's exploration of humanity as a concept. And it contains best boy Kahaku,
7. Cardcaptor Sakura
It may be the nostalgia talking, but I love this series so much. It's so sweet and adorable, and some very sweet LGBT representation. Anyways, Sakura is my icon.
6. Lacey Games Series
Lacey Games, being an indie horror series by creator Ghosttundra, holds a special place in my heart. Though short and still incomplete, it's exploration of abuse and trauma through a horror format is beautiful and compelling.
5. Bocchi the Rock!
I feel so represented by Bocchi. Never before has anything conveyed what it feels like to have social anxiety while being so hilarious and fun.
4. Monogatari Series
I have an insanely complicated relationship with this series. On one hand, it's problematic and has elements that I find horrific. But on the other hand, it contains so many stories of young women overcoming trauma and adversity, creating a very powerful narrative about the struggles of growing up. Also I love Senjougahara.
3. Neon Genesis Evangelion
Evangelion is dear to me because of when I watched it. Without going into details, it really swooped in at one of the worst points in my life, and allowed me to feel. It's a capsule of loneliness.
2. Revolutionary Girl Utena
It's the ultimate queer girl revolution. Besides it's strange and unconventionalness that I love, Utena tells a story of escaping the cycle of abuse, and all the details that perpetuate it.
1. Oyasumi Punpun
I have no words besides it's the best thing I have ever read, and that I will never read again. Nothing will describe the feelings that it gives.

god I am just having such a great fucking time I've missed being an active part of the DW fandom I really have
rambling flailing-my-arms thoughts for anyone who wants them about Wild Blue Yonder below
HIGH. BUDGET. MIDNIGHT. WHAT THE FUCk. OH MY GOD I LOVE WHEN DOCTOR WHO DOES FUCKED UP COSMIC HORROR.
I forgot how terrifying the Miss Evangelista Face Warp Effect could truly be
I FUCKING LOVE EPISODES THAT JUST. GIVE REALLY GREAT ACTORS SOME REALLY GREAT CHARACTER WORK I AM ETERNALLY A SUCKER FOR THE "IM PLAYING TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE SAME BODY AT THE SAME TIME" SHIT IT'S SUCH. GOOD. TV. JADFLKSDLFKJSDFLASDKFLSD;JF
They have got to fucking explain what's going on with Mavity, they wouldn't just. Write that whole sequence with Newton and Gravity being named something different. It's gotta Mean Something.
To be meta about some of the writing, it's soooooo smart to have Everyone's Fave David Tennant up there doing all the Queer Shit like acknowledging Newton is hot bc it's suchhhh a good way to grease the skids for what is, inevitably, going to be SUCH a queer era of DW with Ncuti. And by putting this all up front, it really does weed out the bad earlier than later so it can't be pinned on Fifteen specifically. Bc I really don't want to see that happen
CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW TEN DONNA WAS IN THE SEQUENCE WHERE THEY GOT UPSET WITH EACH OTHER. The way she chastised the DOCTOR for wandering off. And the little Sniff of Indignation. It's SO FUckinG fascinating to see Post-Metacrisis Donna bc her character is Inevitably Somewhat Changed and it's SOOOO COOOL
THE PRACTICAL. FUCKING. EFFECTS. I CANNOT GET OVER IT. THE BEHIND THE SCENES WAS SO COOL I HATE THOSE FUCKING ARMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think one post really recapped it well, I'll have to reblog it - it just makes my blood boil all over again for Jodie is that like. I got more emotional catharsis out of Fourteen working through the Flux conversation with Not Donna than I did out of the end of Jodie's run. I'm realizing it's not even that I didn't like a lot of Chibnall's ideas - I DO! It's the lack of emotional follow through! LET THIRTEEN EMOTE AND EMOTE HEAVILY.
Tennant really is still the actor ever, you can so easily see 11, 12, 13 and a touch of something new in all of his performance and it's FABULOUS it's so obviously Not Ten and I know everyone is saying it but it's so reassuring (this take stolen from @peanutbutter-nutella bc of course we were flail-texting <3)
WHAT ABOUT THE SALT SUPERSTITION WHERE ARE WE GOING WITH THIS
God. God. Anyway. So far, RTD2 is really forcing me to reckon with my own biases and hypocrisies too, because I find myself going "fuck yeah more of THAT" and then realizing it's functionally the same as something from (gestures at everything from Eleven to Thirteen). And frankly it's making me fall back in love with more of the show all over again. And appreciating each piece for what it is, and where it falls short, and how that can still... be okay. I just really, REALLY love this silly show

Hello, Forgive me for spamming your blog. I saw your pfp was tfp megatron and then realized your blog was as high quality as the pfp. 👌
My ask is whats your fave transformer and from what universe?
Ah, no worries! I'm glad to hear my blog is filled with scrumptious content! About who is my favourite tansformer. Well, it would be easier to answer who isn't my favourite ifbvkdjfv
I'm a TFP girlie through and through. Prime has been my comfort show since like 2011 and I continue to rewatch it year after year even now. I have indulged in other Transformers media, too, most notably the Bay movies, War for Cybertron, Robots in Disguise and the OG series, tho nothing would come even close to my love for TFP. I truly do think this is the best Transformers incarnation in franchise ever created.
About the fav character (aside from the obvious picks like Optimus and Megatron), this is mega hard for me because all of them are so good dfhvbihvfb. I think I could narrow it down to a few, neither is placed higher or lower than the other because I love them all for different reasons.
Ratchet. Absolutely love this grumpy old fart. He's what started my love for the "grumpy character who pretends they don't care but actually care A LOT" character archetype. He's everything I love and nothing I don't, plus I do think that Jeffrey Combs was made to be his VA in a similar way Robert Downey jr. was born to play Iron Man
Starscream. I will be honest, it actually took me some time before I started to like his character instead of just seeing him as an annoying bootlicker. I mean, he's still an annoying bootlicker, but I came to enjoy him! OG Starscream walked so TFP Starscream could run. He's all of his old traits but amplified and made better. His scheeming, cunning nature, inability to shut up to the point the show itself calls him out for it (Operation Bumblebee) but at the same time, he's a pathetic coward. A wet cat of a man, soggy af. I do think if the show came out in recent years that tumblr would have a field day with him. 10/10 I miss Starscreams like him
Smokescreen. This may or may not be a hot take because he's apparently pretty unpopular with the fandom?? At least he was in like 2012-2015 when I was most active in the fandom. I actually really do enjoy his recklessness and immaturity, it makes him feel more like a youngster that's yet to see the horrors of war. I love how quickly he grows throughout the episodes when he comes to realise their fight isn't about personal glory, it's about survival and about doing what is right. 9/10 because I hate the updated painjob he got in season 3
Miko. Also kind of a hot take, since she seems to be the least favourite among the kid trio. I gotta be honest, TFP is the only Transformers incarnation where I actually like the human companions, and Miko I love the most. She's reckless and bold and immature, like any "punk" teenager of her age would be, and I also absolutely adore the bond she has with Bulkhead.
KnockOut. My first ever experience with a character that was so violently queer-coded it rearanged by neural pathways. Loved him since his very first scene. The sass, the execution, his mad doctor persona, obsession with looks, surprisingly scheeming nature, he's just so full of personality. I also love how he's actually canonically married to BreakDown. My only gripe with the character is that I wished he was depicted to mourn BreakDown more instead of, like, just mentioning he's annoyed that he now has nobody to buff him. But also this was a pre-Steven Universe show back when queer characters weren't as prominent in kids media, so I get why it wasn't implimented. I'm still salty about it though
Arcee. Arcee I had to grow to love, and it didn't happen until several years after the show has ended. At the start, I found her to be a deeply unenjoyable character, grumpy and cold and dismissive towards everyone (and especially Jack) and not in the fun way Ratchet was. However, as I aged, I came to realise that she's not just being an asshole, she's grieving. This is one of the key reasons why I love TFP. It tackles serious topics like death and grief very well for an animated kids show that was mostly made to promote a toy brand, and Arcee's character really shines here. I deeply enjoy seeing her come out of her shell after Cliffjumper's death and slowly form a deep loving bond not only with Jack, but with everyone else too. Also how she helps Miko out with her own grief after Bulkhead gets seriously injured. You know what that is? Growth. Nothing but growth and healing for my sassy two-wheeler.
"Funny. At first I never thought I'd get used to Cliff's constant chatter. But now? Now there's nothing louder to me than the silence."
Bro, this sentence is burned into my memory. Forever. It altered my brain chemisty, I swear. Arcee and her grief over Cliff and Tailgate are so well portrayed and it makes one of the best written characters on the show and I will die on this hill!!
#I am not kidding when I say I was absolutely fucking obsessed with this show#We're talking “watched it so many times I ended up memorising it to the T” kind of obsessed#I could quote it perfectly and had each and every episode memorised too. Each by season and name#Yes it was totally normal also yes I have autism how could you tell??#This series is also the reason for why I can speak english#Well. This series and Starcraft II#Because I was so utterly obsessed with it I had a deep need to understand it#I'm czech and while we had it dubbed to my language it was of such terrible quality I cringed everytime someone spoke#So I sat in front of my computer for hours at a time with a notebook and wrote down words to then translate them in google#My english skills were very limited up until that point but during a period of like 3-4 months I absolutely sky rocketed#Just because I wanted to understand what these funny animated robots were saying#SC was the same case but the game made it easier because it already provided subtitles#Still. It wasn't available in czech so I had to translate the text in google anyway#Man oh man I fucking love TFP so much I am so not normal about this show even a decade later#TFP#Transformers Prime#Shut up Val

“got to be in the top 5 bl manga i’ve ugly cried to” can i get the rest of the list, i need recs pls 👀🙏
Hahaha what an amazing ask :DD
These are in no particular order and idk if you’re already familiar with all of these but here goes:
Nakamura Asumiko’s Classmates series; Kumota Haruko’s Itoshi no nekokke/ My Darling Kitten Hair series
Lumping these two together because they both made me cry tears of queer joy
The themes of family and coming out are handled so gently if sometimes bittersweetly in these stories
AND the wedding scenes in both series are soooo lovely I’m gonna cry just thinking abt them
(Classmates is published in eng by Seven Seas, Nekokke sadly does not have an official eng release after Jmanga went down and I think it’s kinda underrated in the eng speaking manga sphere sobb)
Marukido Maki’s Pornographer series & End of the World With You
Once again lumping two series together bc Marukido Maki just does Things to me okay
Honestly I think all of their series have made me look at my life and my choices and reflect on all kinds of things I never expected to be while reading a story abt idk dictation of erotic novels
Also the bittersweet and somewhat unusual rlationships Marukido Maki writes are so good
(Pornographer and its sequel & prequel can be read on Mangaplanet. End of the World does not have an official eng release, but both of these series do have decent live action adaptations, Pornographer’s is called ”The Novelist” in eng)
Harada’s One Room Angel
I know Harada is a big hit or miss for a lot of people, I am definitely a fan even if I don’t love all of their series
This is another story that made me think about life, choices, healing, finding meaning within yourself... so many themes that easily make me cry
(One Room Angel can be read on Mangaplanet. There is also a great live action series even though it hits a bit different than the original does)
Asada Nemui’s Sleeping Dead
Look it’s been a year since I read it but this story about zombies and trauma and the horrors of living is still haunting me
My full, very detailed write-up on Sleeping Dead can be found here
Overall I love Asada Nemui’s stories that dan be quite dark and brutal but that also have humor and humanity in them
(Sleeping Dead doesn’t have an official eng translation but it has been translated in French at least. Some of Asada Nemui’s other translated works can be read on Mangaplanet and Renta.)
Azuma Kaya’s The Scene of My Rumspringa
Adding this last because this is what inspired this whole ask
The themes of growing up and leaving your childhood behind and finding your own path are done SO.SO.WELL in this story. And the way Azuma Kaya’s visual storytelling brings those themes alive is just stunning
If there is anyone out there who still hasn’t read this Amish themed BL manga, I am begging on my knees: it is NOT a joke it is actually one of the most touching and sweet and unique BL stories you’ll ever read
(The official english translation can be read on Bookwalker and Inkr)
(I’ve also written about the spin-off Dear Gene that has a very similar vibe)
BONUS
Sweet Pool
This is not a manga but a horror BL visual novel
The way this made me break down sobbing at 3 am... still haven’t recovered even though it’s been years
The themes of loneliness, fate and choices affected me in some profound way, it is definitely my fave out of all the Nitro+Chiral visual novels I’ve played
(Jast Blue has published this in english, you can get the uncensored version on their website)

bite? little a bite? chompy chompy???
anyways, top 3 vampires in your humble onion?
all the bites are yours <3 nom nom nom slurpppppp
Thanks for the question!! This is muy difficult because I love so many vampires so much... I'm going to go with three from different franchises/series. In no particular order...
Mitchell (Being Human) - Probably my fave vampire character arc in all media. Evil serial killer to loveable dork to mass murdering bastard. The complexity of this character!!!! Aidan Turner as Mitchell is also the reason I doubted my lesbianism for so long. He wins a point just for causing such sexuality confusion.
Lestat (The Vampire Chronicles) - Probably the vampire I relate to most? Queer Theatre kid who loves everything oh so intensely. Whether it's book!Lestat, Film!Lestat or AMC!Lestat, he's such a fantastic character with such depth. Who really knows what he's really like? He's so fun to read and to watch that even when he's at his worst you can't help but love him.
Spike (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) - Such a sarcastic lil shit I love him and will always do so. Okay so he may have had his flaws (falling in love with Buffy, and just genuinely being a bit of a hopeless romantic in denial) but I just adore an antagonist who reluctantly bit by bit joins the good guys and complains the whole time. Spike also wins the award for being the vampire with some of the best lines of dialogue in TV.
David from The Lost Boys is also one of my absolute favourites but misses out on top 3 just because I love a complex vampire, and as an antagonist for just one comedy horror film it's hard to really get much depth to his character/story. But he's so cool, so fun to watch and my fave film vamp so I have to give him an honourable mention!
Also honourable mention to Nadja from WWDITS as probably my fave female vampire because she's just iconic and I felt quite guilty not including a female vamp in my top 3. She's my gal <3
So yeah! Wow I wrote more than I planned to, but ask me about vampires and it's a struggle for me to shut up.

Hi! I absolutely loved 'Those who have yet to decide'. I've read it three times and want to read it again. My friend sent the fic to me and I was floored at the beautiful descriptions, but also establishing a new, profound love for Hob in makeup and a corset. This line will forever make me crack up because it's so accurate. Woof to Hob in a corset! I wish I could see it in live action haha. I can hear it in Boyd's voice actually. I love how you wrote this Corinthian.
“Check out these tits, my lord,” the Corinthian says; Dream did not refashion him to have any sense of propriety or good timing, and he regrets this now, immeasurably. “Woof. Bark bark, am I right?”
It was sensual and made me all tingly. I loved how Hob was waving his bi flag proudly and as a bi man myself I salute him. It was just such a brilliant fic and I'm so happy you shared it with us.
I have a read almost everything you have written and I was hoping I could make a small request. Something short and sweet. Could I ask for you to write Hob taking Dream out on a date, strolling through the city at night? Honestly I have no plot idea for you because anything you write will be amazing.
I hope you are well and happy new year to you! I wish you all the happiness and success this year ahead :) (I just saw now that my fave fic is getting a sequel. I'm jumping up and down from happiness!! I'm sat and ready for this!)
Bi Hob means a LOT to me. Bi characters in general mean a lot to me! It's so fuckin important that they're included in any discussion of queer history and queer acceptance, because they, along with like, hetersexual aromantic/heteroromantic asexual people and also hetero trans men/trans women, are very frequently excluded from under that umbrella and it's not fucking right because who you are doesn't change based on who you're dating or fucking and bisexuality isn't just a "cry for attention" or "playing it safe" and I just get very irked by the whole disk horse about it. Which is to say I am SO glad that you liked the fic. <3<3<3
The "sequel" to Those who have yet to decide is now up! It's called "Ab instrumento ad corpus" and it's uh 27k l o l.
Short and sweet short and sweet hmmmm
"Dream!" Thunk. "I know you're up! I can see your light on! Please, Dream, I just want to talk, let me explain..."
It is 11:30 in the evening, and Dream has, for the last fifteen minutes, been listening to the steady tap of stones pelting against his bedroom window. The sound is not unlike hard rain, and if it weren't for the increasingly frantic voice accompanying each volley, he might be able to turn over and accept it as yet another piece of white noise in the background of his room, slotting neatly into place beside the fan whirring by the closet and the gentle hum of his desktop, the water rushing through the pipes in the walls, the clink of ice from the kitchen as Del fetches herself her customary glass of midnight orange juice.
But the voice cannot be ignored. Easier, he thinks, to ignore the sun, to ignore gravity. To ignore the pounding of his own heart, the lurid thud against his ribcage. He manages to hold out for a further, and remarkable, thirty seconds, before there is a sound from below his window that is not a whispered call, and is not a rock pattering against the glass. It is, to his horror, something more like a sob.
He is out of bed and to the window before he has even fully processed his own intention, fingers fumbling numbly for the latch. A bevy of tiny stones litter the ledge of the roof outside, and yet more have trundled down into the gutter, which he can see if he leans outwards, which he does now.
"Hob Gadling," he says severely. Tries for 'severely.' Fears that he has fallen far short, somewhere in the territory of 'desperate.' "Cease your hysterics at once and tell me what do you want?"
The figure that is sat upon the lawn below his window, miserably hunched with his face pressed into his gangling knees, has hair like petrified wood, smooth and glossy and dark redwood brown. When the sunlight hits it perfectly it highlights coronas of sublime amber, all streaked and brilliant and falling in lose waves to cover apple-blushed cheeks and the decent beginnings of scruff along his chin. His chin has a darling cleft in it, which he had once told Dream was a source of some embarrassment for him, and which Dream had told him ought not to worry him, as people would not be looking at his chin, but at his eyes. Hob had assumed he was being quite literal -- had laughed, in the way he has when he isn't certain if laughter will be welcome, but is unable to help himself -- but what Dream had meant was that Hob's eyes were like molten gold, like the beating core of the universe, like sundogs flaring in summer, warm and liquid and arresting to heart and mind.
Hob does not look warm, nor arresting, at this moment. He looks like a seventeen year-old boy sitting in a quarter-inch of snow, slowly soaking through his denims, lifting his head to reveal red-rimmed eyes and damp cheeks. Dream refuses to let the sight stir his heart to pity. He refuses.
"What do you want?" he repeats, and Hob scrambles to his feet, slipping and sliding in frost. He is holding some sort of bundle in one hand, Dream realizes -- in the dark, where it had lain beside him, it had not been obvious. Is still not obvious, but is now undeniably there.
"To apologize," Hob says, and Dream narrows his eyes.
"I am not interested. In your apologies. I do not need you, Hob. I do not need friends. I certainly do not need friends like you, and furthermore --"
"Dream will you just shut up for five seconds? For five bloody seconds while I try to explain?"
Dream shuts his mouth. Inhales, deeply, as his therapist has taught him, and counts to ten. Exhales slowly.
"I am listening," he says. Fury and desire trembling in his breast, vying for control of his heart.
Hob, also, is breathing deeply. There are high spots of color upon his cheeks, and his eyes shine with intensity, and not only wavering tears.
"I'm lonely, too," he says, and Dream holds on to the windowsill. As though by doing so he might prevent himself from flying apart. His knuckles, already pale, turn tea rose pink, and then bloodless white beneath the pressure. "If you'd have let me finish before storming off like a prick, I could've told you that I'm lonely, too. And, and the only time I'm not lonely is when I'm with you. Every room that you aren't in feels empty. The house feels empty. All I want, every minute of every sodding day, is to be right next to you, whatever you're doing, whether you're studying or reading or writing, or, or watching birds. I'd watch birds with you for hours, Dream. I'd pick that over footie, or porn, or..."
"Charming," Dream says. Feels the frost that wafts along the winter night against his neck, and feels the heat blooming under his skin all the same, warding it away. Hob pushes his hand back through his hair, messing it thoroughly, giving him a rakish and dangerous silhouette that makes Dream's heart beat uncomfortably loudly in his ears.
"I'm serious, Dream. I don't. I'm not good with words, the way you are. But I know what I feel, all right? And what I'm trying to say is that I love you. I love you, you dense prick, I'm in love with you, I'm fucking mad with it and if you want me to climb Nelson's Column and shout it from the top I'll fucking do it!"
"Please do not risk legal action for my sake," Dream says. His heart, already rabbit-fast, has elevated itself to speeds normally reserved for jets. It soars in wild loops through the spaces between his ribs. He feels as though he is flying. He feels as though he is going to start hyperventilating. Hob gazes up at him from the lawn, the snow a blanket of cream-white tulle that he scuffs with the tips of his Docs, rucking it up like a sleeper's blanket until Dream can see the still faintly-green grass beneath. The seat of his denims is soaked through, and his hair is a wild bird's nest, and his nose is red, and blotchy, and in the winter silence Dream can hear his stuffy breathing. He sounds as though he is trying to inhale jello through a straw.
"Give me. Five minutes," he says, and Hob nods, and rubs his nose against his sleeve. Disgusting. Foolish. Stupid.
Dream fetches his jacket from the back of his desk chair, slips on his Uggs without bothering with socks, and stuffs a scarf and some gloves into his pockets before he creeps downstairs. The night is blessed: Del has returned to her room, and neither his mother nor father are up. Not even Desire, who seems to sense gossip in the way that homing pigeons can orient themselves towards their nests, is awake. Dream deactivates the alarm on the door to the kitchen and steals outside, into the frigid night.
Hob is there, waiting for him. He has left a shuffling trail of disturbed snow in his wake, and is not dressed at all for the weather, with only his customary jean jacket as any protection. His breath puffs into the darkness in clouds of frost-ringed fairy floss, and the tears on his cheeks glisten like they, too, might turn to ice. When Dream nears, he thrusts out the bundle that he has been cradling. Up close, it resolves into a carefully-wrapped conical shape, swaddled in layers of silver and blue tissue paper.
"Didn't want it to get wet," Hob mutters. The red at his cheeks has spread downward, inching along his neck. Dream takes the bundle, and carefully peels its thin exoskeleton back.
"Oh," he says. Hob scuffs his boots into the snow.
"The lady at the shop thought I was mental," he mutters. "Said nobody pays attention to flower meanings anymore and it was going to be the ugliest bouquet, and I said he cares, and if I get him something as prosaic as roses he'll spit in my face."
"I would never," Dream says, momentarily distracted from the beauty of the bouquet in his hands.
"Yeah, but you'd want to."
Dream huffs, and his own breath joins Hob's, mingling clouds of crystalline vapor. He strokes his fingers through the flowers, all bundled and tight within their wrapping. "Heliotrope," he says softly, "for undying love. Forget-me-not, for faithfulness. Aster?"
"Yeah, she said it stood for patience. 'Cause I will be. I'll wait for you, as long as you need me to. If you need me to wait 'til you come back from uni, or until we're both eighteen or twenty or thirty, or..."
"Hob," he says, and Hob stops, his teeth chattering gently. At some point within the last minute their eyes have caught, and Dream cannot look away. Hob's eyes are honey, thick and sweet and gleaming with inner light, and Dream digs haphazardly into his pocket. Retrieves his scarf, and holds it out.
"You are freezing," he says, and Hob starts.
"I'm fine."
"Do not be dense. Put on the scarf."
There's a quick flash of a smile, just enough to show a hint of teeth, white and gently crooked, and Hob takes the scarf without further protest. He winds it around his neck, and buries his nose into the dense cashmere, inhaling. Dream's heart kicks like a startled mule, and the heat in his skin travels downwards. He keeps his hand extended, and Hob, his fingers buried in the scarf, looks at him quizzically.
"I have heard it is impolite to keep one's boyfriend waiting," he says, and the smile, which before had been only a hint, blooms spectacular and free across his face. "Walk with me."
"Anywhere you want," Hob says, and, fingers warmed from the huff of his own breath, tucks his hand into Dream's.

Watched The Rocky Horror Picture Show with five 13 year olds tonight.
Did all the props -- rice, toast, cards, toilet paper, confetti, newspaper; the whole bit.
Only one of the girls had seen it before, the rest were watching for the first time, and they had such a blast!
Rocky Horror is one of my all time faves, and this was one of the best watching experiences I've ever had, just, sharing in the joy and absurdity of it this way.
It was just so much fun.
(3/5 of the girls identify as some type of queer, they all are constantly hitting on each other at the drop of a hat, and they were all so excited to talk about the gender and sexuality shenanigans going on.)

Saint or Dorian, he + any, 21y, UTC -3 / BRT looking for rp partners: yes main account: @glittering-graves (prefer to be messaged here for roleplay matters, but you're welcome to follow there if you want to be mutuals out of roleplay stuff!)
been writing for 10 years, roleplaying for 2. my style is literate/novella, but I enjoy texting threads when I'm in the mood. my prose is almost exclusively third person and past tense.
I'm mostly interested in OCxOC, although I'm interested in some fandoms as well and could RP for them. but be warned, I'm extremely picky about those. I have a preference for FxF, MxM, polyamory or otherwise queer romance.
as I have an interest for darker, taboo themes as well as ERP/NSFW/smut/however you call it, I prefer to roleplay against 18+ muns (exceptions are highly unlikely). please don't lie about your age to me, I'll know. I almost exclusively RP on discord -- shoot a DM or off-anon ask for my handle! or like this post and I'll approach, if you prefer. (alternatively, if you can't reach me, message my discord alt account, which has the same username as this blog, I try to check that at least once a week)
see under the cut for a general look at what I'm interested in, and the wanted plots tag in my blog for specific plots.
everything in bold are my faves to play as or to write.
genres & themes : paranormal romance , horror , vampire / hunter , thriller , detective / suspect , enemies to lovers , dark fantasy , fae / human , dark academia , professor / student, toxic exes , historical fiction ( victorian and medieaval, mainly ) , gothic themes , sci-fi , legal age gaps , crime author / serial killer , mafia , religious themes and imagery , spies .

hard limits : JK Rowling properties , incest / pseudo-incest / stepcest , main characters below 18 , race play or any racially focused kink , orientation play and detransitioning-related kinks , toilet kinks , RPF .
*characters I'm willing to play as specifically. assume I'm willing to RP them against any other characters or OCs unless I state otherwise.

I would have loved it if Bucks whole sponsor storyline had more emotional impact than just "buck is ready for kids but is hamster wheeling his relationships" - the connect between feeling like a spare parts kid, KNOWING that he wasn't actually wanted, and knowing that Connor and Kameron(?) wanted him (sort of), could have been explored with more nuance and it would have been so 🤩🤩🤩.
Tbh even just how Buck feels about his body - from hurting himself for attention and using sex to avoid intimacy and THEN learning that he's a donor sibling for a dead brother - and then learning he's queer - all of it is so specific to how buck feels about his body as a whole and it would have made such an awesome storyline
that's what i've been saying! i personally love the sperm donor storyline because it happens after he learns he was made for spare parts and he CHOOSES to donate some spare parts to his friend so they can start their own family - it's about the CHOICE - even though we see him struggling with it. s6 was such an interesting season for buck's development because we see him struggling with not being chosen for interim captain, asking bobby "you don't think i'm at ease?" and asking hen "what do you think it is, the secret to happiness?" and then reminiscing about his adventures, choosing to be a sperm donor for connor and kameron, the coma dream full of lessons and affirmations, and trying to deal with the aftermath of his temporary death. hands down fave buck season. they messed it up by trying to get him with natalia (because the show was not being renewed and we can't have people end up single? the horror!) and bringing back kameron to crash at his flat as if she doesn't have anyone else to go to...? fucking bizarre choices. 6b suffered from the impending doom lmao.
anyway! sometimes canon only gives us half a story and we have to dig a little deeper and use the source material to do our meta analyses and try to understand what it says about our favourite character. and i'm really hoping to see buck being confident and settled in s8, even if he's dealing with the fuckery at his workplace, i want to see that he's in a good place in his relationship with tommy, that they're good together, they're still communicating and being open and there's no bullshit like jealousy and exes and cheating and all that cheap drama crap lmao. i want to see buck who makes choices for himself as his own person and what that means for his relationship with tommy.
and while i'm here, because i've talked about wanting madney to have another baby, and i see people say "but it was so bad the first time with the postpartum syndrome etc etc" and once again i want to see maddie CHOOSE to get pregnant again - it's about the CHOICE - i want to see her say yes i want to do this, i've been through it before, and i learned a lot, i healed a lot, and i can do this with the support of my husband and a therapist and a local group for expecting or new mothers.. because the first time around: it was a surprise pregnancy, and she had thyroid problems that no doctor had apparently thought to check? or her having her nursing background? (that SL has some issues for me personally because i know it was done due to actress unavailability lol, i would have done a better job with it no offence) and because this is a fictional show, we can write characters who go through a second pregnancy as a healing experience - something that is hard to do IRL cause life is unpredictable, you know? i wouldn't advocate this for a real life woman is what i'm trying to say but maddie is ficitonal and i can make her have positive experiences. anyway!
excited to see my beloved buckleys in s8 <3

The Anatomy Students (The Magnus Archives) Propaganda:
So technically there a 7 of them each with a different localization but one of them is legitimately John Doe
Also they are responsible for bone apple teeth
They are very fun
This submission is for the class of students in Episode 34: Anatomy Class, who are named Erika Mustermann, Jan Novak, Piotr and Pavel Petrov, John Doe, Fulan al-Fulani and Juan Pérez, which are all "John/Jane Doe" names. They are so creepy and so cool.
[about John/Jane Doe in particular]
Very good normal anatomy student doing his best to learn <3
This is a horror that went to anatomy class with a group of different variations of john doe esque names to learn about human body functions and scare a teacher for a full semester. was called john doe in the statement but later shows up as jane doe. trans rights?
John Doe (Enderbomb) Propaganda:
Firstly, character design is so cool!! Look at him! He’s one of the main villains and is the catalyst for the whole story. This guys a big fan of illegal human experimentation, and is the reason one of the main characters is the way she is. Manipulative as I’ll get out, but boy does he look good doing it. Also, if you haven’t read Enderbomb, highly recommend you go read! Superhero mystery queer love story with lots of diverse rep, one of my faves <3
